MARKET OPEN

Good morning, it’s Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Wall Street is catching its breath after its best day in a month.

Anthropic’s IPO filing set off a rally in chip stocks Monday. The S&P 500 gained 0.7% and the Nasdaq added 0.8%.

This morning, futures are flat to slightly lower. Meta is pricing one of the largest stock sales in history, up to $97.5 billion, to pay for its AI buildout.

The Fed also begins its two-day meeting today, with oil still above $100.

The setup: AI enthusiasm is back, but the bill is coming due. Today’s session is about who pays for the buildout and who gets paid.

What's moving the market: Monday’s rally is cooling. Traders are weighing Meta’s dilution, oil near six-week highs and the Fed.

TODAY’S CATALYSTS

  • Before open: Coca-Cola, Boeing, SoFi and American Tower earnings

  • 10:00 AM: Consumer Confidence (October)

  • All day: Fed meeting begins (decision Wednesday, 2:00 PM)

  • After close: Visa, Robinhood, NXP and Seagate earnings

Most important: Consumer confidence. It slid through the summer, and with inflation at 3.7%, a weak reading would confirm that shoppers are getting squeezed heading into the holidays.

Move your money OUT of SpaceX (and into this stock) by Nov. 16th

Elon Musk has gone "all in" on Texas, home of SpaceX. But Texas just froze ALL new AI data center buildouts.

The reason? Data center demand in Texas has soared from 48 gigawatts to 474 gigawatts... since 2023, according to Reuters. But according to 60-year Wall Street legend Marc Chaikin, one company has the solution.

Its "micro cluster" technology will consume an estimated 99% less electricity and water.

And it'll come online as soon as Nov. 16th. When it does, it'll make current data centers obsolete when it comes to major AI breakthroughs – including Elon's Grok.

THE BIG STORY
Meta Just Asked Shareholders to Fund the AI Arms Race

Meta is raising as much as $97.5 billion in new equity. That makes it one of the largest stock sales ever.

The breakdown:

  • $25 billion of common stock at $625 a share, upsized from $22.5 billion

  • $12.5 billion of convertible preferred stock

  • Up to $60 billion more through an at-the-market program once its new non-voting Class C shares begin trading next year

The reason is cash: Meta burned $2.12 billion last quarter, its first negative free cash flow in over a decade. It is also guiding to $135 billion to $145 billion of capital spending this year.

Nvidia is buying $3 billion of the offering. Meta shares fell 1.9% Monday.

What this means for investors: The AI buildout has outgrown even the biggest cash machines. When Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon report this week, watch how they pay for their spending, not just how much they spend.

BREAKING NEWS
Anthropic’s IPO Filing Revives the AI Trade

Anthropic publicly filed its S-1 Monday. It plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker “ANT,” possibly as soon as November.

The filing showed about $16.3 billion in first-half revenue alongside a large net loss. Its last private funding round valued the company at $965 billion.

That was enough to flip sentiment. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 2.8%, and optical-component makers Lumentum and Coherent were among the S&P 500’s top performers.

Keep it in context: chip stocks are still down 12% for October. One filing doesn’t erase a month of selling. It does show that public markets still have an appetite for AI at scale.

Major Buy Alert Issued for October 31st

Keith Kaplan's firm has invested $17 million into their own AI research and tools. They've built a platform that 180,000 people worldwide use in the stock market.

Now he says there's a handful of stocks you need to buy before October 31st, to set yourself up for 1,000% potential returns in the near future.

PORTFOLIO INSIGHTS

If the 10-year yield holds near 5% → savers and income investors get paid well in Treasuries, while long-duration growth stocks stay under pressure.

If oil stays above $100 → energy producers keep strong cash flow, while airlines, retailers and consumers feel the squeeze.

If Big Tech keeps issuing stock → existing shareholders get diluted, while suppliers keep collecting.

TODAY’S BIG IDEA

Own the Sellers, Not the Spenders

The opportunity: AI infrastructure suppliers, meaning chips, networking and optical components.

Why now: Hyperscalers are now tapping equity markets to keep spending. Nvidia expects capital spending by the top five hyperscalers to reach nearly $800 billion this year.

Bull case: Suppliers get paid whether their customers use cash, debt or new stock.

Risk: If financing gets harder or returns disappoint, orders get cut. Semis are already down 12% this month.

Watch: Capital spending guidance from Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon this week.

RISK RADAR

The Fed is Still in Hiking Mode

The Fed is expected to hold rates at 3.75% to 4.00% Wednesday, after hiking in September.

Markets are still pricing at least two more hikes by mid-2027, with inflation at 3.7% and the Iran conflict keeping oil elevated.

Watch: Whether Chair Kevin Warsh leaves the door open to a December hike.

THE WATCHLIST

  • META: Priced $25 billion of common stock at $625 after Monday’s 1.9% drop. Watch whether shares hold the offering price.

  • NVDA -0.3%: Investing $3 billion in Meta’s offering. Chip suppliers putting money back into their customers is a trend worth tracking.

  • KO: Reports before the bell, and options imply a move of about 3.5%. The results are a clean read on pricing power while consumers are stretched.

FOLLOW THE MONEY

Money rushed back into AI hardware Monday. Chips rose 2.8%, and optical, server and neocloud names led the way.

A second flow matters more. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom agreed to buy up to $5 billion of Meta stock.

Suppliers helping fund their own customers’ purchases can make demand look stronger than it really is.

Meta generated $10.6 billion of free cash flow in Q3 2025. In Q3 2026, it burned $2.1 billion.

That is the clearest picture yet of what AI infrastructure costs, and why even Meta now needs outside capital.

🔔 OPENING BELL HOT TAKES

  • Broadcom arranged $63 billion to finance chip purchases, and SpaceX signed a roughly $40 billion equipment lease. AI fundraising is everywhere. Bloomberg

  • Analysts expect investors to keep questioning Meta’s financing and the potential for more capital raises. Reuters

  • Nvidia and Intel were among the big gainers after Anthropic’s filing, which also showed some revenue coming from customers violating its terms. Forbes

  • Oil sits near its highest level in six weeks as traders price in more Fed hikes. Reuters

  • FICO sank 13% while Tesla and Lockheed Martin jumped on analyst upgrades in Monday’s session. Chartmill

THE BOTTOM LINE

Anthropic’s filing gave stocks momentum, but Meta’s record stock sale shows how expensive the AI race has become. With oil above $100 and the Fed still leaning toward hikes, rate-sensitive assets remain vulnerable.

We’d stay constructive on the suppliers getting paid while keeping some cash in short-term Treasuries for better entry points.
